A group of researchers at Yale University went in depth on the effect of the 1,000+ chemicals used in hydraulic fracking, and what they found was quite frightening. They found that at least 67 of these chemicals were toxic and that was only after researching about 200 of the 1000+ chemicals used in fracking, a method of drilling around 2 miles into the earth in search of oil or water. What Yale also found is that much of the aquifers down under the earth that contains some of the Earth's oldest water is being poisoned, quite literally.
I believe there is definitely cause for concern here because the water of our future that is being stored down under is being contaminated in the search for oil. Also, there is the one elephant in the room on how excessive drilling is detrimental to the earth.
